Dry/Matured Skin: LULA Rich Face Oil is the way to go, rich in antioxidant and omega fatty acids, it is deeply moisturising to fight the signs of premature ageing.
Sensitive Skin: BIRU Squalane Oil is recommended as a basic and gentle moisturiser as it is non-irritating and lightweight with minimal ingredients
How to use Face Oil? After cleansing and toning, while the skin is still damp, rub 3-4 drops of oil on your palm and gently press it on your face and neck. You can also blend it with your moisturiser or foundation for a natural dewy look.
Face Oil on oily/acne-prone skin, really? Seems weird but the right kind of face oil actually balances sebum production and combats acne. It’s a common misconception that you need oil-free products for oily skin. In fact, the more you dry out your skin, the more it produces sebum that leads to breakouts. According to studies, "Acne patients have also been shown to have low levels of linoleic acid in their skin surface lipids". We have formulated LUMI Light Face Oil to be high in linoleic acid (Omega-6) suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. Alternatively, BIRU Squalane Oil is good choice too.
It's so hot, won't Face Oil make me greasy? FRANKIE Face Oils are fast-absorbing, excellent for tropical climates and non-comedogenic (does not clog the pores). Applied correctly after cleansing and toning while the skin is still damp, 3-4 drops of Face Oil is all you need for the entire face. The oils will sink so fast that the skin is not left greasy.
Can I use Face Oils under the sun? Certain oils such as Bitter Orange, Lime, Lemon Verbena, Angelica Root etc will cause a photosensitising reaction known as phototoxicity. This happens when certain chemical constituents bind to DNA in the skin and then react with UV light, killing the cells and damaging tissues. To ensure that we keep your skin safe, we do not use photosensitive citrus oils in our formulations.
Are your products safe to use? We choose to use only certified organic, plant-based ingredients for our products. Click here to learn more about our ingredients, which all have a Low Hazard rating of 1-2 on EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database.
I'm pregnant, can I use your products? FRANKIE Face Oils are formulated for safe external use by pregnant and non-pregnant women. We have completely omitted the use of oils that essential oil expert Robert Tisserand, author of Essential Oil Safety, recommended avoiding during pregnancy. We mainly use natural/wildcrafted/organic botanical oils and essential oils, our carefully calibrated blends are well tolerated and are safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Do you use any preservatives? Our products are anhydrous, which means it does not contain water and therefore can go without preservatives. To extend the shelf-life of our oils, we have included natural Vitamin E, known as Tocopherol, an antioxidant that inhibits the formation of reactive oxygen species, harmful molecules that are generated when fat is oxidized. Tocopherol in our formulation is derived from non-GMO sunflower seed oil, we do not use tocopherol derived from GMO soybean or wheat germ.
Do you test on animals? Not tested on animals, only husband! Myself and willing friends and families too. We love our furry friends and do not use any animal by-products or derivatives whatsoever in our formulations.
Why do I need to patch test before use? While we create organic beauty products that are free from synthetic fragrances and irritants, we recommend that new customers, especially people who have sensitive skin, test a small patch of skin with our products before they introduce them into their daily skincare regime. Our products contain oils from natural nuts, seeds and fruits. If you have any allergies please read the ingredients label carefully. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
How to do the Skin Patch Test? The easiest and most widely used method for testing the skin for a reaction is to do a patch test.
- Apply a small amount of a product to a patch (small area) of skin on the inner lower arm, behind your ear or neck area.
- Do not wash that area of the skin for at least 24 hours. Watch for signs of a reaction.
- If there is no visible reaction to the product or ingredient, then it is likely that you will not react adversely to the product or ingredient when used on other parts of the body.
